Print Email

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The National Creative Industry Policy (NCIP) which was formulated to spur creative activities in the country as an economic generator will be launched tomorrow by Information Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

The policy packaged in three scopes - multimedia, arts and culture and cultural heritage would support the development and progress of each activity under the industry, according to a ministry statement here Thursday.

The statement said aspects including the involvement of non-governmental organisation (NGOs) and intellectual property development had been given consideration and emphasis in the implementation of policy strategies to encourage growth of the creative industry.

In conjunction with the launch, a creative policy tour programme would be organised to educate the people on the opportunities and benefits that could be derived through the policy in the government's efforts to develop the national creative industry.

Besides its role to potentially increase the income of the people, the policy was expected to help the country achieve its objective of a high-income economy by 2020, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the creative tour programme would be implemented in stages throughout the country including the north, east coast, Sabah and Sarawak.

The programme would impact positively on the masses particularly creative industry enthusiasts aligned to the three main sectors - multimedia, arts and culture and cultural heritage, according to the statement.
