RAUB, June 12 (Bernama) -- The government has spent RM206.37 million to implement 2,077 projects in 11 local authority areas in Pahang throughout the period of the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).
Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Wira Chor Chee Heung said of the total, RM136.52 million were approved for the implementation of 870 small projects like upgrading roads, public facilities, markets and food courts.
"Another RM33.88 million were used to implement 405 traditional settlement and cluster development projects, as well as to upgrade roads, drains and irrigation canals in village areas."
He said this to reporters after opening the multi-purpose hall in Kampung Sempan Baru and presented the annual allocation and grant to Pahang local authorities here Sunday.
Chor also hoped that the allocation given by the federal government would be used to improve the service provided by the local authorities in the state.
"The management of local authorities must understand that today's community is no longer a self-sufficient community because they have been exposed to the world without borders and they know the responsibility of local authorities to them," he said.
