KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Food products manufactured by TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd's Herbal Biotech Centre in Raub, Pahang will now be able to be exported internationally with the company having been recently awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Audit Standard (HACCP) certificate.
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM), an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
President and Chief Executive Officer of TPM, Datuk Mohd Azman Shahidin, said the certification has come at the right time.
He said five companies manufacturing their herbal drinks and food products under contract at the facilities in Raub, were now actively moving their products into the markets of Middle East, Indonesia, United Kingdom and Australia.
"The certification proves that our food production area has been audited and certified to meet all international standards," he said in a statement issued by TPM on Monday.
The certificate was awarded by the Guardian Independent Certification Ltd of London following an extensive and stringent audit of the company's food safety management system.
This is a first time a government-owned facility such as this has been awarded the HACCP certification.
The centre was established in 2004 to assist local entrepreneurs by providing comprehensive scientific services and consultancy, in addition to making available an exhaustive herbal processing infrastructure intended for commercialisation.
Currently, more than 120 local entrepreneurs and companies use the facilities to manufacture their products under contract.
