CS Wind Sdn Bhd
CS Wind Sdn Bhd (CS Wind), a wind tower manufacturer jointly-owned by private investors from Malaysia and Singapore and a few other foreign investors, intends to invest on a new manufacturing plant at the Gebeng Industrial Park that will have the capacity to produce about 800 wind towers annually for international market.
Once completed, the plant, which will occupy a vast land area of 21.85 hectares (53.96 acres), will have the capability to produce towers, flanges and nacelle structures.
The plant will also provide over 500 employment opportunities excluding other contracting and consulting jobs. It will also create a good platform to spin-off many local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to invest in renewable energy both in diversification and strategic alliances. The plant is scheduled to open in the second half of 2010 and expected to commence its first production by the first quarter of 2011.
Why Malaysia?
Why not Malaysia? “With Malaysia having the free-trade agreement with China, it makes no difference whether you set up a factory in China or Malaysia. Even if you set up a factory in Malaysia, you can still make shipments out to China duty-free; and from Malaysia to other ASEAN countries is also duty-free,” explained the CEO of CS Wind, Mr. Joseph Lim. He also added that another advantage of setting up a plant in Malaysia is that it is easier to make shipments to the USA and Europe.
Why Pahang?
We chose Gebeng, Pahang due to a few reasons. Mainly, it is due to the facilities that the place offers us in terms of its established infrastructure and efficient deep-sea port, thus creating a favourable business climate. Another reason is that, there are a lot of knowledge and skilled workers here especially in the industry that we are involved in which is very much in-line with CS Wind’s concept to employ as many locals as possible to optimise cost.
Another obvious reason for choosing the location over the other industrial locations in Malaysia and elsewhere, which we must mention, is because of the abundance of incentives provided by the Government, be it in terms of tax incentives, pioneer status benefits and many more.
How has PKNP assisted CS Wind?
When CS Wind first came to Pahang, PKNP officers helped us through thick and thin by guiding us through every step of getting all the paper works done. And they have done this in a surprisingly short time that we have managed to get our office up and running faster than it would normally take.
Having acted as the truly professional one-stop-agency, PKNP has further assisted CS Wind to complete the correct forms as per the requirements of the local authorities such as the Land Authority, facilities such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for power supply, Telekom Malaysia (TM) for telephone and fax lines, Jabatan Bekalan Air Pahang for water supply and many more. This gesture has saved CS Wind a lot of valuable time guessing which form to complete to get a certain application approved. And to our surprise, PKNP still assists us from time to time even after we are up and running – it is what they call “after sale service”. For further info, please contact the below address:
