Malaysia’s telecommunications network has undergone extensive enhancements and expansions for the past years. Nowadays, the latest digital and fibre-optics technology is being used to provide high quality telecommunication services. Malaysia is linked to the rest of the world through various fibre-optics and satellite consortia such as FLAG, SE-MA-WE, APCN, China-US, Japanese-US, Measat and Intelsat. In Malaysia, telephone subscribers can choose from five network service providers for a full range of local, domestic and international services encompassing voice and data facilities. There are six internet service providers and five telecommunications and other network facilities services support a full range of domestic and international services including mobile telecommunications.

Other Charges
Other charges are applicable such as stamp duty, installation and wiring charges. The fees depend on the individual telecommunications provider which may range from RM10 to RM50.
Future Internet Facility in Pahang
Kuantan, Pahang is set to emerge as the first town in Malaysia to utilise high speed broadband (HSBB) infrastructure with open access. By end of 2010, it is targeted that 30,000 households and offices with speeds of between 30Mbps to 100Mbps will benefit from the HSBB through various service provider companies.
