Beaches, Islands & Lakes
Pahang is blessed with beautiful unspoilt beaches, islands and lakes that can host a variety and colourful activities for its visitors.
Beaches
Pahang’s long and fine stretches of beaches are from Kuantan heading up to Terengganu. Its crystal clear waters are suitable for snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, skiing, sunbathing, surfing and sailing. There is Teluk Chempedak where its enclosed bay is suitable for water sport activities. The Balok beach is an attraction for passionate wind-surfers and is the venue of the International Monsoon Madness Challenge.
In addition, you can experience beautiful unspoilt beaches along the southern coast of Pahang, the Lanjut Beach and the golden soft sandy beach of Cherating. The perfect place for a quiet holiday, Club Med Village, one of the best lagoons in the area, is a favourite spot among international visitors. You can also experience unique scenery in Beserah Beach where you can witness fishermen transport fish from boat to the processing area using water buffalo.
Islands
Beyond the fine beaches of mainland Pahang is the world-famous Tioman Island. It offers a wide range of accommodations – from a sprawling international resort chains to boutique hotels and personally-run and friendly Malay-style offerings. Being enlisted as a Marine Park of Malaysia, Tioman Island’s crystal clear warm waters and natural marine life makes it a heaven for snorkelers and scuba divers.
Lakes
The Lake Bera, located at the south-west of Pahang, is the largest freshwater swamp in Peninsular Malaysia. If you are a nature lover or enthusiast, or a bird-watcher, or even an angler, then you will be thrilled by this charming, rustic lake area, with nearly 200 species of birds, 50 species of mammals and more than 90 species of freshwater fish!
The Lake Chini is the second largest fresh water lake in Malaysia and is made up of a series of 12 lakes. Legend has it that a mythical dragon lives in the lake. The lake is also endowed with a rich bio-diversified lush tropical wilderness.
