In conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) organized a panel discussion session titled “Seamless Connectivity: ECRL’s Role in Optimizing East and West Port Logistics.” The panel discussion featured Dato’ Ragu Sampasivam, Chief Operating Officer of ECERDC, as the moderator, and five panelists were invited to discuss the topic.
The panelists included Dato’ Hasan Azhari Haji Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad, Dato’ Mohd Faizal bin Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer of PKNP, Dato’ Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd., Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport (Malaysia) Berhad, and Tuan Mazlin Husin, Chief Commercial Officer of Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn. Bhd.
The discussion focused on the attractiveness and potential for investment along the development of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), which can be enhanced by providing access facilities for investors. The panelists shared their insights and opinions on the investment opportunities that can be developed in Malaysia, considering that the ECRL transportation network is expected to be available and operational by the end of 2026.
According to Dato’ Mohd Faizal, as one of the government agencies in Pahang actively encouraging new investments, Pahang continues to support ECERDC’s efforts in promoting the east coast rail corridor, which has now reached over 60% of its development. He also shared updates on the latest developments in the Gebeng Industrial Area and promoted Pahang in general and PKNP specifically. Such panel discussions provide valuable benefits to attendees and can open up more investment opportunities for investors both locally and internationally.
