The Pekan Automotive Industrial Estate is in its way to be more competitive in attracting more global auto carmakers with the planned upgrades in infrastructure and landscaping as well as the setting of a Central Marketing Centre within 2010.
Home to Multinational Corporations
Currently, local manufacturer DRB-Hicom is at the forefront of the assembly activity in this industrial area. DRB-HICOM, the main player at the automotive park, is aiming for a bigger role within the local automotive landscape in line with the coming upgrades of the park. Over the past 25 years, DRB-HICOM and its partners have invested a total of RM1bil and produced over 480,000 cars at the park.
Several international automotive brand names are now operating at the park such as Daimler-Chrysler, KIA Motors, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Hyundai, TATA and Citroen.
